At Roberts & Harris, our car accident attorneys in Raleigh talk often about how negligence changes our clients’ lives without notice, and how we do everything we can to help them return to the quality of life they enjoyed before the crash.
When our clients lose their loved ones in vehicle collisions, we strive to pursue the financial compensation they will need to fully grieve and to seek justice for the deceased by filing a wrongful death claim on their behalf.
Unfortunately, there are vehicle accidents that occur throughout North Carolina that leave multiple families reeling from the tragic outcome.
One such accident took place on January 3, 2022, in Rutherford County.
N.C. State Trooper Crashes Into Fellow Trooper and Driver Involved in Traffic Stop
A driver, Dusty Luke Beck, 26, of South Carolina, and a North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper were killed Monday night by another state trooper — who was also the officer’s brother.
Trooper John Horton pulled over Mr. Beck before 9 p.m. in Rutherford County about an hour west of Charlotte.
A second trooper, John’s brother James Horton, lost control of his patrol vehicle while approaching the traffic stop, hitting both John and the stopped driver.
Both men lost their lives in the collision.
James Horton, who lost control of his patrol vehicle, had minor injuries from the crash. While the State Bureau of Investigation investigates the cause of the crash including the details regarding why the trooper lost control of the vehicle our Raleigh personal injury lawyers offer our sincerest condolences to all who have been impacted by this incredible tragedy.
